Apologies everyone - I had some technical issues that forced me to start a little late. We have now started!

Hi Ethan. Thanks for the class, and nice choice of solo for the demo part.
I'll rephrase my question here. Typically insert effects are to shape the character of the individual instrument and send effects are to glue the tracks together and to sculpt the space image of the mix. So my question was about laying your brass track into the mix. When you using insert reverb on the track, do you consider how to ensure your insert reverb does not disrupt what you will be doing in the mix? I am worried that different reverb algorithms (one on insert, another on send bus) would fight to model different space and mess things up. But I know mix engineers do use reverb on inserts and I guess they know what they are doing, so was thinking how you handle that.

Sorry for asking convoluted questions :)

I'd only use one of the two reverb options, and pros tend to use sends (though you can get the same effect with inserts). I wasn't sure if there'd be space to go into sends, but clearly I could've. I'd never use both inserts and sends for reverb unless I was going for a very specific effect.
The advantage of sends is you can use the same reverb for multiple tracks and just control their level independently. The advantage of inserts is you have more control over the signal flow (can put things after the reverb), though it's not often you'd need this.
If you're debating which to use and you have the time, just use a send. Can't go wrong!
